Technovation Girls Portugal returned in 2024 for an edition that once again had the support and participation of #teamnoesis. The Happy Code programming school organizes this technological competition, which promotes innovation and entrepreneurship.
Considered the world's largest technology education program, with a unique focus on encouraging girls between 8 and 18 to explore the world of IT and gain confidence in STEM areas. The program aims to empower these girls to become leaders in identifying and solving current problems through technological solutions while also striving to eliminate gender disparities in education and ensure equal opportunities.
The event to celebrate and present the Final Pitch of the various projects took place on May 18, between 2:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., at the Portuguese Catholic University in Lisbon. Throughout the day, the teams presented their ideas to the panel of judges from various areas, fighting "for the opportunity to participate in the Technovation World Final, which will be held in the United States at the beginning of October 2024".
The third edition involved 400 students, around 100 mentors, Noesis represented by Inês Guerra, Daniela Vicente, Agar Silva, and Antonia Tajes Farenzena, and 68 Portuguese teams that worked over several weeks with their mentors to create solutions that had an impact on society.
"The initiative has been a success. The girls can make new friendships and share ideas to help the community. The mentors play a crucial role in helping to implement these ideas and demystify the idea that IT is a man's world," says Sandra Martins, Marketing & Communication at Noesis and one of the program's jury members.
